What is RSS?
In simple terms, RSS feeds allow you to easily keep up with updates to your favorite web sites. By subscribing through an RSS reader such as the ones found here when the website publishes a new item the update is recieved by the RSS reader and then displayed to you. This allows you to see what sites have been updated and which ones have not without having to go to each individual site.
Technically "RSS is a family of Web feed formats used to publish frequently updated content such as blog entries, news headlines, and podcasts in a standardized format. An RSS document (which is called a "feed", "web feed", or "channel") contains either a summary of content from an associated web site or the full text. RSS makes it possible for people to keep up with web sites in an automated manner that can be piped into special programs or filtered displays." (Source)
